About the game
Chicken Zap swaps the road for a night field and the traffic for a flying saucer. The chicken jumps from haystack to haystack, the multiplier climbs with each landing, and an alien is what ends the run.
The four levels are the studio's usual set, from Easy through to Mad, and the choice is made before the first jump rather than during the round. Greater risk, in the game's own words, for greater reward.
It is the oldest of the studio's chicken titles here, and the numbers show it: a x50,000 ceiling where the later road games list a million, and a return a hundredth of a point under theirs.
How to play
The setup. A level from Easy to Mad, then a stake between $0.10 and $100. The level decides how often an alien is waiting and how fast the figure climbs The run. Each haystack landed on lifts the multiplier. Cash out at any point to settle at the figure reached, or jump again — land where the alien is and the round ends with the stake
Difficulty levels
Four levels — Easy, Medium, Hard and Mad — as the game itself presents them. What ends a run is an alien: land on the haystack it has chosen and the round is over.
RTP, bets and maximum win
95.97% is the recorded return, a hundredth of a point below the 96% the studio publishes for its later road games. In practice that is the same price.
Variance is adjusted by the level, so the game's behaviour is a setting rather than a property.
x50,000 is the listed ceiling — a twentieth of what Chicken Route and Chicken GOAL list, and closer to what a run of this length can realistically reach.
Strengths and weaknesses
Pros
- 95.97%, effectively level with the studio's later releases
- A x50,000 ceiling that a run can plausibly approach
- Four levels set before the round
- 4.8 MB and a free demo in the browser
Cons
- The oldest of the studio's chicken games, and the plainest
- Adjusted variance — the level does the work, not the game
- No feature layer at all beyond the jump and the cash-out
- The oldest maths in the studio's chicken line, with the least done to it since
Final verdict
Chicken Zap is the studio's first pass at the format and still a decent one. The alien is a better ending than traffic — there is no lane to watch, so the tension sits entirely on the next jump.
Its ceiling is the honest one in this line-up. x50,000 is a twentieth of the numbers its siblings advertise and far closer to what a run actually reaches, which makes it the least misleading page in the family.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many difficulty levels are there?
Four, shown in the game as Easy, Medium, Hard and Mad. The choice is made before the round starts.
What ends a run?
Landing on the haystack an alien has picked. There is no warning inside the round — the level is the only thing that shapes how likely it is.
